Teaching in multiple locations

I belive this might be my first post here...I was not sure where to put it so Im trying here....

Ive been teaching at a local gym for a little more than a year. When I began teaching I was approached and offered a job teaching at another gym in town. I was told by my gym that they would not be happy with me teaching in both locations. The other gym was seen as a threat, competition is not so good in a small town. So I declined the offer.

A year has passed another opportunity has come my way. I have gone ahead and set up a meeting with this other gym and am very excited about working at both locations. I am not trying to make a living teaching yoga, but the extra money is good. I am the only instructor at my gym that is not working in multiple locations. Granted the other instructors are not teaching at other gyms in our area. They teach at the community college, senoir center or parks and rec.

Is it normal for a gym to ask that you dont teach at a competiting gym? I knew the time would come when I was ready to broaden my horizions and I feel that time is here. I really want to keep teaching where I have been. They have been good to me and I am overall very happy there. Perhaps I am being greedy.

Any thoughts would be very appreciated. There are not many other yoga instructors in my area to bounce these things off of! Thanks!
