Currently I run a yoga program at a resort and this is regular money, but opportunities are limited. I have been working mostly to develop workshops, but this has been frustrating, to say the least. I have partnered with a massage clinic/small studio that offers pilates, martial arts, personal training, and yoga. My hope was to focus more on offering private lessons, but my partner has had to rent out the space to a pilates teacher just to pay the rent and there isn't much room left in the schedule...
So I'm at a loss on where to go from here. I have been feeling called to work with teens...I used to have a theatre company for teens and would love to combine my experience with movement and yoga...I am currently taking a Yoga In Schools training, although I'm not sure I want to offer yoga just in the school setting; I feel that working with teens might actually be more effective as an extracurricular activity, the way some kids take sports or ballet... So how do I research the market to discover if this could even work? I've looked on line for programs and can't find anything. I know in my state that we have a startlingly high teen suicide rate, not to mention issues with obesity, so there's definitely a NEED...I don't even know where to begin, not to mention wondering if there's even any money in doing this kind of work, as much I'd love it... Please help! |

Hi Halli,
The first thing that comes across in your post is despair. ![]() And let me tell you the most important thing about being successful in your yoga business is mindset. Since you work in a resort, you meet a lot of people but they aren't local. Have you considered a tele-coaching business with your clients where you monitor their progress by phone? Get into their over all health, mind set, eating, and spirituality. Also, we've been saying this for a while here... Get Yourself Private Clients! I would love to have Sara chime in but she's running around seeing her clients. Ah, life is tough for her. Swimming at the beach. Taking yoga trainings. Private clients let you teach what you love, make a difference in peoples' lives, and receive the financial balance you deserve. Let teens be your calling and perhaps your seva work. But make your money on privates. Peace.
