Default What is your delight, your joy?

So, I've been on this forum for a while here....and I'd like to know what the delight the joy is for you, and the yoga that you teach.....

For me, it is when someone gets into a pose that they've been struggling with for a bit, and that inner light bulb goes on....it is also when someone gives you a big hug afterwards, and tells you how much you've effected their well being.

I've encountered another joy, in that I've just had fourth student sign up to get teacher trained in yoga.

What about you Harlan, Sara....and all of you other yoga like minded individuals?

Smile I like that question!

I love seeing the tension disappear in the people in my classes. The way they leave versus the way they came in. Or over the longer timespan, to see them become calmer and happier overall. How they are so happy to be back after they have traveled or missed class for a while for other reasons.

In my private clients, there are so many special moments. My current favorite is when my 75 year old client, who has balance problems due to neuropathy in her feet told me a week or so ago, how she when she lets out the dog at night she just loves to look up at the stars. And that she noticed that after doing yoga with me for a few months, she can now just look up and gaze at the stars without having to hold on to anything, because her balance has improved.

Default Teaching joy

I have two favorites so far:

1. During or after class a student says something along these lines: "Wow. I never realized it until now but I've never really been taught HOW to do this pose before" or "I didn't know that I was supposed to be doing/feeling that in this pose until now." These comments certainly feed the teacher ego, but it also drives home to me that I really am teaching people something - not just leading them through postures. When a student tells me they learned something it reassures me that I'm doing the right thing.

2. Two private students came off pain medication. Another private student with emphysema had her doctor tell her that her lung capacity has increased (we do strictly pranayama in her lesson). And another student with ankylosing spondylitis said that when he backs up in his car, he can see out the back window now because his spine is flexible. Talk about making a difference in someone's life!

Sounds like some rewarding experiences for super teachers.

As you all know, I'm not a yoga teacher yet although I will be doing
teacher training this year with Shiva Rea.

But as a teacher, there's that moment when the student who didn't get it all of a sudden gets the look of recognition in their eyes...

It's a wonderful feeling.

I would like to congratulate all of you for sharing such a wonderful teaching with the world and helping to heal so many bodies and so many souls.

Peace.

I love the feeling when students understand my instruction and apply it to their bodies. Just like the light bulb going off above their heads! I remember having that feeling when I first starting doing yoga and it was so liberating. I love sharing what I've learned in classes, workshops, trainings with my students, along with what I've discovered in my own practice.

I love seeing one of my private students who has been struggling for sometime finally grasp and understanding of a pose.
